“The 2003 live-action Peter Pan was one of my favourite films as a child, partly because of its extraordinary soundtrack by James Newton-Howard. This track, Flying, seems to encapsulate all the innocent joy of being a child – it always makes me think of the magical bit of the film where Tinkerbell is brought back to life while everyone chants ‘I do believe in fairies, I do, I do!’. This was another ‘accidental’ arrangement – I wrote it when I was messing around in a rehearsal break while I was preparing for the recording of my album ‘Luna’ on the organ of the Royal Hospital School. The organ had a record function, so I had a lot of fun experimenting with layering different melodic ideas in the opening.
